Would you.....

Allow your baby or toddlers just "cry it out" at night? In the link below, it's saying that allowing your baby or toddler to just "cry it out" is bad and that supposedly it can lead to a higher rate of ADHD diagnosis and other issues. What are YOUR thoughts on this? Is it ok to do this? Did you let your kids "cry it out" or were you allowed to do this? If so, how did you and your children fair? I have ADHD and it makes me wonder if my parents did the same thing. http://shine.yahoo.com/parenting/crying-dangerous-kids-one-expert-says-222400379.html

Being Thankful

I'm very thankful this holiday season. I'm thankful for my friends, my family, my future family, my coworkers, my fiance whom I love, and most importantly my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ whom I love more than anything in this world.  I may not always say that I am thankful for these people, but I really am. I may get aggravated by all of those people, but I am still very thankful for each and every one of them without a doubt. I don't think that I could live without them. Actually, being completely honest, I know that I can't live without them all in my life.  Thank you Lord, for everything. Thank you for all of the storms that you gave me to make me a stronger person. Thank you for the 4 men that led me to the man I am now engaged to and for allowing those 4 men to show me that I deserved to be treated with the utmost respect from men here on Earth. Thank you for every single one of my friends and co workers and family and future family. And thank you Lord for my

Curious.....

I'm curious..... How do people know that they are no longer in love with someone or if they are in a rut of sorts?  I can't decide if I have fallen out of love with my fiance or if we are just in a rut. I'm hoping for rut because we do the same thing all the time....sit at home and watch tv. I do enjoy it, but it gets old. We don't live together yet (we will be at the start of 2012). But when we are together, it's always the same thing...day in and day out.  It's irritating to me!!! I don't  know what to do. Can someone PLEASE help me figure this out??!

Learning something new everyday

Everyone learns something new everyday about their relationship with their bf/gf/fiance/husband/wife; while in class; while at work; almost anywhere you learn something new. I've learned something about my engagement, as well. Hopefully someone on here can take this lesson to heart as well. If you are in an extreamly serious relationship, think about something. Can you imagine a life without your significant other? If you CAN imagine a life without him or her, then you need to get out of it...or at least talk with them and figure out WHY you feel this way. If you CAN'T imagine a life without them, then you are in the right place. I've done that myself.....many times. Over the course of a year, I can't imagine my life without Patrick. I don't want to be without him at all. Don't get me wrong, the first three (3) months of the relationship, I questioned if I was in the right place at the right time. That was because of a man named Brad. Please remember 1 f

Trying and learning how to be an "Ultimate Cheapskate"

I am currently trying to be and learning how to be an ultimate cheapskate. It's gonna be a bit of a rough road trying and learning how to do this. I've just started a few weeks ago at saving money. (ex.: moving x-amount of money from my checking on days i get paid over to my savings account.) That is the easy part. The part that's a little harder (but I've done well) is not touching what I have in savings if I go broke. My suggestion for anyone that is wanting to build up their savings account(s) is to put about 100 bucks of your check into savings and then don't look at your savings account anymore. Just look at what you have left in your CHECKING account. I promise that over a period of time, you won't miss that money!!! Just remind yourself to NOT touch it. I've done well. I know that you can too if you just keep working at it.

Really??! I don't give a rat's behind!!!

Sometimes I have issues with patience, but when it comes to the hospital and being on the patient side of things, I could probably have all the patience in the world. If you come into the ER, wether it be on your on accord (through the front door walking in) or via ambulance, being a patient does NOT give you the right to be a complete and total asshole!!! I don't really care if you have psych issues, have an appendage hanging off, have something that's broken but not hanging off, are here for a stubbed toe or chest pain, or have a family member that is sick. I don't care. IF you are rude, then the staff has every right to be rude back to you. Go ahead and say that I'm a mean bitch or an asshole. I don't care at all. I believe that if you come to the ER, wether it be by you walking in yourself or via ambulance, that you truly want help. I know that a TON of people use the ER as their regular doctor's and other's are drug seekers. I know that. But you c

Pray Is All I Can Say

You read the title right...Pray Is All I Can Say. Or it is at the moment..... Reason is is that my fiance has issues with my BFF and her husband. Just issues he has with them, and personally I don't really want to get into them at the moment...or at all. I do ask is that you pray that words won't get said and that I won't wind up having to choose where my royalities go to. Because I can't choose. I have known my BFF for 13 years and my fiance for a hair over a year. You might say that it would be EASY to choose which one to go with. But it's not. It's not easy because he does treat me well. She's my BFF. So, just please pray that it all goes well and that they will eventually talk about their issues with each other BEFORE my wedding day!!!!!!!

Stresses of finding a wedding/reception site

If you have recently gotten married or planning a wedding, then you understand the frustration. I am trying to find one that is all inclusive for catering of food and the florist. Or at least just the caterer. One that I have seen was $3100 for 6 hours and that price DOESN'T include anything!!! I've emailed other places and one that emailed me back told me that they didn't have a "set prices or packages". That they based the prices around the bride and groom and what they wanted. (THEY meaning the bride and groom.) I'm sitting here reading and rereading the email that this man sent to me. It doesn't make sense, seeing as how I FOUND the prices on the site...granted a couple of days after I sent the email to this particular venue. It's not adding up to me. The email completly screamed JUMP SHIP!!! GONNA GET OUTTA HAND VERY QUICKLY!!! DON'T DO IT!!! My gut feelings are usually right on the money. So, guess what??! I will NOT be going to vi

Wedding Song Ideas

I have a list of like 50 songs that I would like to use during the wedding. Songs for seating the guests, processional, ceremony, recessional, and reception. I want everyone's opinion's on the songs. Wedding Day Diet

Hello all!!! I wanted to ask a massive favor of all you current brides to be and former brides. It's about diets. What kind of diets did you go on, if any? And how long were you on it? I need a good diet. I may go on Weight Watchers. Did (or is) anyone on that diet? Any and all suggestions are welcome!!!

Wedding Planning

So I am thinking about two (2) colors for my wedding. For bridemaids dresses and vests/ties for the groomsmen, I'm liking the color burgandy. For flower's, I'm liking purple's. Also, I was thinking this way: ladies wear purple dresses with burgandy flowers and guys have burgandy vests/ties with purpel flowers on their lapel's. I would have a mix of both burgandy and purple flowers in my bouquet. Also, my bridesmaids will be able to choose which dress they want, but in what color I choose. So, what are yall's thoughts about that color combo? Any and all suggestion's are welcome. I will take all the help I can get in this whole wedding planning thing.

Wedding Questions

Hello all!!! I have a few questions to ask. (1) If you live in the Birmingham/HWY 280/HWY 119 area of Alabama or have been to a wedding here, can you please tell me about The Sonnet House? I'm considering having my wedding and reception here and I don't know very much about it. I know one good way is to have feedback from other people--their thoughts (good OR bad). Gives me a better insight on the location. (2) My uncle wil be walking me down the aisle (my father passed away when I was 16). Is it ok to have an "Uncle-Neice" dance instead of a "Father-Daughter" dance? I want all of the dances in there (i.e. Mother-Son, Bride-Groom, etc), but is it "proper" to change the "Father-Daughter" to "Uncle-Neice" dance? (3) How do I go about telling my future in-laws about my dad's passing? My fiancee knows about his death 9 years ago, but I haven't told his (my fiancee) parents yet. I'm not sure on HOW to bring it up. A

What is an intresting fact about you that no one knows about (or is shocked to find out about)?

What is an intresting fact about you that NO ONE knows about? People are surprised (and sometimes astonished or shocked) by the fact that I cuss sometimes. I don't come across as the type of person that would do that. I am the type that is quite and laid back. Are you a shy person who owns (or owned) a motorcycle?

Wedding Stuff

Patrick and I are still narrowing down a song list. It could possibly change as time goes on, but we want several main songs picked out. Also, he has started on HIS side of the wedding guest list (which makes me proud seeing as how he did this on his own....I didn't have to ask!!!). It mostly consists of people that he works with and coworkers that might be moving away and want to come to see us get married. (Still, I'm proud that he's already started working on this.) I know that people at work will come. I plan on giving an invitation to my job to post in the break room. Also, I plan on sending invitations to certain coworkers that I REALLY want to come. (Understand that I work in a BUSY ER in downtown Birmingham.....not everybody can get off to come see me get married, so individual invitations to certain people will help alot....espically if you already have those certain people in mind.) I figure that if we get some of the smaller details done in advance, then we will

Sad Story

Just read a sad story ( www.al.com ) where an 8 year old boy died while swiming at a hotel pool. He was attending a birthday party. The group of children and adults were at the pool at night and decided to head back up to the room for the party. When the group got up there, the mother of the child asked where her son was. That's when police were called in to look for him. They found him at the bottom of the deep-end of the pool. He was pronounced dead at Children's Hospital. I do have a question and I do NOT want a war to start. I want everyone's HONEST opinions about this. Don't put others opinions down. If it gets ugle with the opinions, I WILL take the post down. So, my question is this: Who is to blame in this child's death--the hotel or the parents? REMEMBER THAT POOLS HAVE SIGNS WITH RULES AND A TIME THAT THEY ARE "CLOSED"....also there are NO lifeguards at hotel/motel/beach pools.

Sips'N'Strokes

So, my fiancee and I are planning on going to Sips'N'Strokes tomorrow (Monday, April 25 2011). Yes, you read that right.....Patrick is taking me there tomorrow night from 7-9 to paint a flower. He's never been before, where I have been several times. What IS Sips'N'Strokes you ask? Well, it is a painting place. You go online and pick a day/picture that you want to paint. You have to pay online or at the store. Then you learn how to paint. The studio provides you with a mini easil, paint, paint brushes, and a cover for your clothes. Its really fun to do!!! So, yes, he is taking me to go paint a flower on a canvas. He wants to enjoy things that I do, like I enjoyu doing things that HE likes to do. Just hope he has fun!!!

Curiosity Killed The Cat

So, I'm curious about something. Anaorexia. I think that I'm being blind to the fact that people think that they are "fat" all the time. I think that I'm fat, but I'm happy. Why can't people be HAPPY with how they look? I get that their are models, movie stars (well ALL actors are "skinny and sexy"), beautiful people are skinny. Well, I'm beautiful and I'm no where NEAR skinny. I'm like 100 lbs from being skinny. I'm still beautiful. You should tell yourself 1 thing, "I don't care what ppl think or say, I'm beautiful in MY own way. This is the way I was inteded on looking like." All people are beautiful in their own way, believe it or not. I just don't get the obsession of being SKINNY, of not eating, of only eating x-amount of calories/carbs a day (if any) to lose weight. To be that "perfect" size. There is NO PERFECT SIZE so all I can say is GIVE IT UP. I know it's hard to do. I know that th

Thoughts for the Day--Day 1

I've decided, that while blogging about my engagement and marriage, that I would do Thoughts For The Day. Today is day 1. (1) The best work is not what is most difficult for you; it is what you do best. (2) Today, give a stranger one of your smiles. It might be the only shnshine he sees all day.

Engaged Life

Engaged life.....it comes with its ups and downs, as does married life. So far, I haven't had a problem with my future in laws yet. It's my mom that has issues with my ideas and where I want the wedding location at. I don't think his family would care if I had it in Birmingham or Huntsville. My mom, on the other hand, does care. (Last time I checked it was MY wedding, not hers.) She'd rather I have it either here in Birmingham or somewhere in the middle of Birmingham and Huntsville. She keeps saying that it wouldn't be fir to make ppl drive 2 and a 1/2 hours to Huntsville. In my mind, if people come, then they come; they don't, then they don't. (Again, last time I checked, it was MY wedding, not hers.) So, what's yalls take on this whole situation? Should I have it in Huntsville, Birmingham, or somewhere in the middle?

Ebay

Yes, the title is right: Ebay. I've started selling books that I no longer read or want anymore. I just sold my first one today for $0.99. The other book is STAR WARS DARK FORCES: SOLDIER FOR THE EMPIRE. It's selling for $25. If you have a son that's into Star Wars, then this is the book for him. I would put this book into an age range of 8-13 years old. I do plan on editing it and making it BUY IT NOW OR BEST OFFER. I'll take less or more than the offered price. My sellers name is manderin6262010. Feel free to check it out and make an offer!!!!!

Wedding planning thus far

Well, it's been slow. Granted my wedding isn't until August of 2012. I've gotten some ideas going and I've made a list of about 50 songs for seating during before the wedding starts, the processional, the rescsional, vows, and for certain dances of the reception. Patrick and I have been going through them and discussing them. We've take a few off and added others in their places. The colors that I like are burgandy and purpels. I like purpels for the flowers (that's what I've been leaning towards). Burgandy for maybe my dress (David's Bridal has 1 dress that has different colored sashes you can choose from). Blue is my favorite color, but with it being around the end of summer, it wouldn't do right (in my mind anyways). Haven't really looked at venues for the wedding/reception yet. I can't decide wether to have the wedding somewhere that can handle both a wedding AND a reception or if I want to have the wedding at one place and then the r

Hi to all

Hi to everyone!!! I once had a blog on here (Band Nerd Goes Blogging), but eventually I stopped using it. But I have returned!!!!!! I recently got engaged to a man named Patrick. He work's at Cheesecake Factory (so VERY delicious Cheesecake Factory is). He is a WONDERFUL man and I couldn't ask for anyone better. I can, and will, say that I have had my share of guy troubles before I met Patrick. Now, no more. All of my issues with guys before Patrick are in the past, which is where they belong. No more looking back and taking a million steps back. I've learned from my past, now I am in the present, and looking towards the future. That's where the name of my blog came from. This is my trip of a lifetime.
